It's that time of year again! School is back in session!
What does this mean for parents? It means we have to scramble to get the coolest fashion trends for our kids so that they're not embarrassed or mocked at school!
What's this mean for a mom on a budget without cares for this type of peer pressure and a 10 year old going to the 6th grade? Nothingggggg LOL
! I'm typically not the person who pays for name brand clothes AT ALL! But in the spirit of my daughter now going to middle school, I was Googling away trying to find a solution to name brand clothing desires at inexpensive prices.
And guess what? I did it (wit’ my ol’ cheap self)!
(Ok… My conspiracy-theorist mindset coming into play here but…) I was doing some serious Googling for hoodies and joggers and all that stuff (because when I asked Jayda what she needed to be a cool middle-schooler, her response was a hoodie (just one
, name brand of course), a pair of tennis shoes/sneakers (name brand) and a couple pair of jeans (“Don’t worry mom, those don’t have to be name brand", she says. “Geesh! Thanks for that pass, Jayda” (rolls eyes at unreasonable and slightly vain expectations)!

Well, because Google captures EVERYTHING YOU SEARCH FOR IN YOUR SEARCH ENGINE AND SAY OUT LOUD ON A 24 HOUR CONTINUAL BASIS, the very next day I got an email offering free shipping & handling from a website that I had never heard of… and get this… it featured hoodies in the advertisement (hmmm, tell me I’m crazy about Google if you want to)! The email did come from a familiar sight however, as TJ Maxx was telling me to check out an online store called Sierra Trading Post.
And let me tell you, when I went to the site, I was pleasantly surprised! Clothes for $5 and $10 and the name brands that my daughter is so peer-pressured to uphold! I'm talking about Under Armor, Puma, New Balance, Columbia! You name it and it was there! And not only at "reasonable" prices, but dirt cheap prices!

Of course, you never just want to order off of an online site that you know nothing about just because they offer you free shipping and handling, right? Absolutely not! So I went to my coworker who's a TJ Maxx professional and asked her if she knew of the company. She's a big fan of the entire TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods conglomerate so when she didn't know of Sierra Trading Post, I sort of questioned it.
No worries however, because my other co-worker jumped into our conversation to vouch for Sierra Trading Post. She told me that her father had been ordering her clothes from there since she was a teenager (from the old-school catalogs of course), and how she now orders her children's clothes from there as well. She offered her insight about how it's a discount retailer with tons of sporty apparel that buys all the name brands from the top companies and resales for way less. She was surprised when I mentioned that they had perfect deals for Jayda’s style. I told her, “Yup, she's trying to be all sporty now since she's growing up!” My co-worker also didn’t know that the store was now affiliated with TJX Companies, Inc.
Welp ladies and gents! I’m here to share my deals and steals with you! As well as Jayda’s first day of middle school outfit (compliments of Sierra Trading Post, of course). Check out this site, www.sierratradingpost.com! I cleaned house on items for both Jayda and LB; I’m talking about real life Columbia jackets, normally $36 on sale for $9.99, $12.99 and so much more! If you don’t believe me… here’s proof!
SUBTOTAL: (drum roll ๐ฅ pleaseeeeeee……….)
You can’t beat this deal with a bat! Like, seriously… 2 Puma joggers, 2 Puma t-shirts, 2 New Balance hoodies/sweaters, and three Columbia jackets for dang near only $100 bucks! These prices are comparable to Wal-Mart!
(These are the prices I would have paid had I paid full price
(of course I'd like to reiterate that I WOULD'VE as in a theoretical scenario...
shirt= $26; jacket= $42; jogger pants= $38 ($106 total)...
What I really paid was...
shirt= $5; jacket= $12.99; jogger pants= $9.99 ($27.98 total)
Total savings on this one outfit... $78.02)
BTW, I didn't purchase the clothes as an "outfit", but as pieces to wear individually because there's NO WAY I'm spending that much on a single outfit either! They just so happened to match lol! IJS!
I have to confess that I did miss the thrill of second-hand shopping this season, but online shopping for the low-low was equally as thrilling!
Anyhoo, I wanted to share Jayda’s first day of 6th grade pics with the world! Problem is… she barely let me take any lol! She asked me the night before to make sure I walk in with her to help decorate her locker and help her navigate the hallways… but it was 1000% a different story once we got to the school among her peers… She literally left me at the front door by myself as she walked away with an awkward and quiet, “Ok, bye mom!”
